Universal Robina Corporation's (URC) flagship brand, Great Taste Coffee, was recognized by Kantar Worldpanel as the SECOND most chosen beverage brand, and FIFTH most chosen FMCG brand in the Philippines this 2017. According to Kantar Worldpanel's Brand Footprint, an annual study of global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands, Great Taste has grown faster than its competitors.
Out of more than 460 brands tracked by Kantar, the coffee brand from URC received the fifth highest Consumer Reach Point (CRPs), a measure which looks at the penetration and frequency of consumer's in-home purchase.
Through the years, constant innovation has allowed the brand to always introduce new and better ways to enjoy a cup of coffee. Great Taste was the first to launch granulated coffee in the Philippines in 1970s, it was also the first to launch complete 3in1 coffee line in the country in 1980s, the first to introduce White coffee in the Philippines in 2011, and the first to launch Twin Pack format in 2012.
In July 6, 2017, Kantar awarded the certificate to URC's President and CEO, Lance Y. Gokongwei, during Kantar's Consumer Connection Event in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig – an event that presents consumer trends and behavior.
Last September 5, 2017, Kantar's General Manager, Alexandre Duterrage, personally awarded Great Taste's plaque of recognition to URC BCFG's EVP and Managing Director, Cornelio S. Mapa, and URC BCFG's SVP and BUGM, Edwin R. Canta at URC Robinsons Tera Tower Head Office.
Great Taste has been given performance recognition by Kantar in the past 2 years – ranked as #1 Top FMCG Riser in the Philippines in 2015, and ranked as #4 Most Chosen FMCG Brand in the Philippines in 2016.
